The only princess who has all: has both parents, caring and loving REALLY doesn't want to be a princess is sassy asf actually humbles a bunch of grown arse men
In those times, one of his boys would get the throne, not Merida. So he's probably not bothered what she does. If he only had daughters, he would be more invested in the eldest daughter training to become a queen. The queen in this movie (Merida's mother) is only royalty through marriage, so maybe she's trying too hard to prove herself through her daughter.
@Ri57490 Um no, she’s trying to uphold tradition. And it was alluded that she was a noble woman, for she stated that she too had many suitors and she too faced the same feelings as Merida. She’s also very graceful with commanding presence, probably ingrained into her by her Mother on how to be a lady and a queen so she’s definitely not a commoner.
5:13 I love that. it's a parallel to her mother doing the same thing earlier in the film. I love how it's made clear that neither of them is wrong and and both change: it's not just Elinor's fault for being too strict and not listening to her daughter and not just Merida's for being too rebellious. In the end, the two learn from each other to become better: the queen understands Merida's desire to be freer and choose her own destiny (and she herself begins to let go more) and the daughter learns the importance of eloquence and discipline of her mother to be a better leader/person, and this makes them both happier
4:52 So, apparently, I looked it up and only some nightshade berries are poisonous, like the Belladonna aka "the deadly nightshade". But for Black Nightshade, they're completely fine and the berries are edible. Turns out they've been eaten and used as an everyday ingredient for thousands of years and have become famous bc of misconceptions and stuff surrounding the more poisonous ones. :)
@@lilacangelblue2404 okay I've done some research about the nightshades (mainly the deadly nightshade "Belladonna" or 'Atropa Belladonna') a while ago so I'm just gonna give you the gist of it: Nightshades or 'Solanaceae' are a family of flowering plants that can range from vines to trees. That includes medicinal plants, spices, weeds, and agricultural crops. Funnily enough, tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants, bell- and chilli peppers all apparently belong to this family. From what I've found you can tell the difference between Belladonna and other berries like the Twinberry Honeysuckle by their flowers (as the name suggests it has a bell shape) and berry shape. Belladonna also grows large berries that are solitary in contrast to the usual berry clusters. This toxic plant of the nightshade family is native to Europe and western Asia, including Turkey, so I'm not surprised many people don't know much about this. Basically, if you go and pick your own berries in this area be careful and study the plant closely before just picking them. And now fun facts about Belladonna because they're totally fun! : - they were used as eyedrops to dilate women's pupils because that was the beauty standard at the time - they're used in medicine as dietary supplements for cold remedies, as mild sedation, for treatment of ibs and acute enterocolitis, and as treatment for "alcohol use disorder" (not kidding when I looked it up it's basically just alcoholics idk) - they're also used in herbal medicine as pain reliever, muscle relaxer, anti inflammatory, and to treat menstrual problems, and sceptic ulcer disease - they were/are used recreationally because of the (usually unpleasant) hallucinations and can easily give you and OD - the antidote would be Physostigmine or pilocarpine to work against the atropine that causes the main issues (it also contains other toxins like scopolamine and hyoscyamine) [important note: this is all online research I have done myself out of curiosity, so while I hope this is all correct, it's not guaranteed. Please be careful about the information you get from the internet and the internet alone]
I'm pretty sure Elsa looked like she wanted to be free of being Queen of Erendelle she seemed pretty happy to give it up without a second thought in Frozen 2
Not just a princess, but a woman in general. Men in the midst of duking it out tend to chill out when a woman or child get too close because they don't want to hurt them. At least long enough to get them out of harms way before going right back to scrapping.
Merida's hair is beautiful as it is,a person who will love her, He will love her nature, so she shouldn't change for anyone, and this is what her mother doesn't realize
@chaosqueen1703 Oh I know! My partner and I have very soft, intelligent sounding Scottish accents so we're constantly mimicking the stereotypical accent for nothing but pure humour haha 😄
Honestly to me, Merida's a great protagonist! Next to Belle, Cinderella, and Tiana, Merida's one of my favorites! She's more of an unconventional princess in which she doesn't want to settle down (at least not yet), learns to own up to her mistakes and is always adventurous! Also, her hair is GORGEOUS! I have similar red curly hair, and she knocks it out of the park! I hope we get a proper sequel with her becoming the unconventional queen we know and love!
I loved this movie! For a cartoon character, Merida is a hottie -- the hair, the attitude, everything! And, having Billy Connolly doing the voice acting of her father...priceless!
Merida actually became my reason for archery, I even bought some knockoff bows arrows with targets inside them. They didn’t work but they made me very happy as a child. So hearing that I could do it in high school I literally got so excited and joined even though I had two years left of high school in me ~ literally the best time of my life and it’s quite a treat when you have friends and can just casually shoot targets and feel like her (mostly me cause I wanted to be her) She also made me love her as well, she’s my queen
